About the Project
In an ongoing effort to provide quality wireless service, both Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile have identified your community as one that will benefit from improved network coverage.
Milestone Towers is proposing a wireless telecommunications facility at The Madeira School, located at 8328 Georgetown Pike in McLean, VA
The proposed facility will include:
- A 175-foot monopole tower
- Carrier equipment for Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile
- A secure, fenced equipment enclosure at the base of the tower
This new tower is designed to deliver strong, reliable mobile service – including faster internet speeds, better voice quality, and improved indoor coverage – now and into the future.
Update #2: Balloon Fly and Town Hall – RESCHEDULED
Please be advised that the Community Balloon Fly and the Community Outreach Meeting, originally scheduled to take place on May 17th and May 28th respectively, have been postponed due to a mailing error noticing the events.
A new date, time, and location will be announced soon.
We will keep the website updated and send out notifications once the details are finalized.
We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we work to confirm the rescheduled details.
Update #1: There are two upcoming community events:
Community Balloon Fly: On Saturday, May 17th from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm a balloon will be flown at the proposed location and height to provide a visual reference for the tower.
Photos will be taken in the surrounding area and shared on the website and at the upcoming Town Hall meeting. See proposed photo locations below.

(In case of bad weather, the balloon fly will be rescheduled for Sunday, May 18th from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. The decision will be made based on the weather forecast and posted here on the home page by 6 pm Friday, May 16th .)
Town Hall Meeting: Wednesday, May 28th at 6:00 PM. The meeting will be held at the Great Falls Library located at 9830 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls, VA 22066 and will consist of a short informational presentation on the proposed development, followed by public questions and comments.
Our Process
1. Due Diligence
Survey, FAA, FCC, NEPA, Phase 1, Geotechnical Analysis.
2. Land Use
Special Exception Permit Application, Community Meeting, Staff Review, Planning Commission, Board of Supervisors.
3. Permitting
Conduct Bid Walk With Contractors and school representatives, submit Site plan and Building permit applications.
4. Construction
Tower construction = 4-6 weeks | Carrier construction = 4-6 weeks on average
On-site supervision by Construction Manager | Schedule with schools to minimize disturbance to student activities.
5. Site Maintenance
Four visits per year for site maintenance | Remove trash, debris, check signage.
Annual RF testing | 2-4 visits per year for carrier modifications.
